Alternative Food Purchasing

Buying Clubs

One way to access healthy nutritious food while keeping costs low is to form a buying club. There are many informal buying clubs that exist through volunteer effort. Neighbours Organic Weekly is essentially a collection of clubs that administer orders through a central website and then customers pick-up their order at the drop-off depot nearest their home. There are 3 depots in or near the Trout Lake Cedar Cottage neighbourhood.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

C.S.A. is a program of mutual commitment between a farm and a community of supporters. It links people directly with their source of food, providing them with the most fresh, sustainably produced food; it gives farmers a source of income at their time of highest expense (early spring). Shareholders purchase a share in the season's harvest and receive a weekly package of food.

Check the FarmFolk/CityFolk website for an updated list of CSA farms as the season approaches.
