CSA Programs

C.S.A. is a program of mutual commitment between a farm and a community of supporters. It links people directly with their source of food, providing them with the most fresh, sustainably produced food; it gives farmers a source of income at their time of highest expense (early spring). Shareholders purchase a share in the season's harvest and receive a weekly package of food. (C.S.A. stands for Community Supported Agriculture or Community Shared Agriculture - take your pick.)

Blessed Bee Farm is now accepting members for Metro Vancouver's first Community Supported Apiary! Click through for details on how to get your honey share.

Foxglove Farm

Foxglove Farm is now offering a limited number of shares in its CSA program. The farm share includes asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, salad greens, beets, carrots, melons, squash, tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, potatoes, herbs, beans, cereal grains, and much more.

What Is Community Supported Agriculture?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) fosters a closer link between local families and their food. CSA members make a commitment to the farm at the beginning of the season by paying in advance for a portion of the farm’s products throughout the season. This guarantees the farm a market for its products, provides members fresh food at a discount, and fosters responsible relationships between farmer, eater, and the land where the food is grown.

How Our CSA Works

Unlike many CSA’s where the produce is chosen for you, our CSA is a “debit-style” program which allows you to choose the amount you’d like to prepay, which location you’d like to pick up your share (Tuesday and/or Saturday markets), and what produce you prefer to have.

In addition, to honor your commitment to the farm, we will add 10% to your total credit at the beginning of the season. Each time you pick up at the market, we deduct the value of your selection from your total. If you go away on vacation, you need not worry about missing a weekly basket. If you’d like to stock up on a particular item, you may do so as well.

On Mondays members will receive an email reminding them to pick up their produce, plus a list of what will be available. In addition all members will be invited to a special fall potluck event at the farm.

Pick-up at the farm. Certified Organic. $35 per week paid in advance for 16 weeks.

Nanoose Edibles Farm has offered CSA programs for many years. They are for 16 weeks, beginning in June and ending somewhere about Thanksgiving. Members pay in advance for the entire season. Each person receives the same products each week. We do not do substitutes.
There are approximately 12 items in each box made up of berries, fruit, salad materials, root vegetables, specialty vegetables and herbs. We have a pick-up at the farm.

We also offer another version of the CSA. We service buying groups of twenty or more families where product is delivered by the carton to the receiver for the buying group. The receiver divides it out into the boxes of the members to pick up. This also can include home deliveries to people who are not able to get to the drop-off point during business hours. The receiver receives a fee for their services. This is a very practical system, as it is easy of staff time and they are able to spend more them farming and much less time filling and labeling boxes.
